Prepare
Your Area
(Creating
Sacred Space)
First, make sure your
sacred space is cleaned thoroughly. Light a purifying incense in the middle
of the area (i.e. cedar, sage, pine, dragon's blood, Solomon's seal, lavender,
frankincense, or myrrh.) Then, light a small white candle, placing it upon
the altar or similar working area and sit or kneel in front of it. Close your
eyes and visualize the smoke from the incense filling up the room going into
every nook and cranny, literally burning away the negativity and other energies
in the room. Picture the candle's light swelling and filling the room, chasing
out all the shadows in the corners and under the furniture. Feel the purifying
power of the light as it cleanses the space (You can also use your besom if
you have one to sweep away the negative energy).
When you feel it is time slowly imagine the light fading out and dimming back
to the flame of the candle. By this time you might feel drained, depending
on how much energy was needed to clear the space.
Prepare Your Body
Light an incense that has special meaning for you and proceed to take a ritual bath or some other calming exercise. When you return to your ritual space it should now feel peaceful and attuned to the day's work.
