"A person's truth is in their own perception... this is my truth."
What
is magick, anyway?
This question brings forth
a plethora of answers and seems to be as individual as the person who attempts
to define it. It is only my opinion I am trying to express within these pages,
so I'm not asking that you agree with me! There are massive amounts of information
available now on the Internet to anyone who wants to dig for it, and most
of it follows traditional paths. Some of what you read here is significantly
different than what you will find elsewhere, while some of it will be very
familiar. My upbringing in the Craft was isolated, and I didn't even realize
how many others there were like me until the Internet took off. I have added
in some of the more traditional methods here, however, so you shouldn't feel
too lost!
Through the millennia, many things have been called "magick."
The definition of magick
has changed as perceptions have changed. The things we do today with science
and technology were considered magick only a very short time ago! Magick relies
on the same force that pushes this new technology we live with every day ~
energy. It is a part of everything around us, and learning to tap into it
and control it to one degree or another is still lumped under the terms "magick"
and "witchcraft," although I believe it is just a matter of time
before this will also be covered by "science." Perception :)
ANYone can be a Witch, regardless of their religion (although numerous religions
frown on that sort of thing!), and you don't need any religion at all if you don't want it. It is an approach to life, a connection to everything
in the world around us; tapping into that 90% of the brain that we never use
(there has to be a reason it's there, right?). The magick is there in all
of us - learn to use all your faculties! Start small, and build upon your
experience; with practice, you will strengthen your connection to the world
around you, and in return you will feel better, stronger, and healthier!
