So
what about Religion?
Religion as we know it
most likely came about as man developed and desperately needed to explain
what was going on around him. Think about it - primitive tribes, eking out
a living from the land around them, with nature in all it's glory as we know
it making life a living hell. Imagine! Thunder, lightning and volcanos to
these people must have been an unbelievably frightening experience! Someone
in the group, a little smarter than the rest, came up with an explanation,
and the masses (who tend to prefer to be guided for some reason) were more
than happy to embrace it. Different aspects of the world around them were
given names and human aspects to make the explanations comfortable.
As is inevitable, various groups split off repeatedly with their own interpretations of the theory; early religions were primarily multi-deity systems, and as men took over and pushed the women down into a secondary roll, slowly religion evolved into the primarily male-dominated systems we see today.

What it all comes down to is this - no one *really* has a clue what's right or wrong, and we're all struggling desperately to place ourselves in the big picture and come up with something that makes sense. My suggestion? Find what works for you, and makes you happy - chances are good you'll spend the rest of your lives revising that theory as you learn more and more. Don't shove it down anyone else's throat, because that's not fair, but if they ask, pass on what you have learned - you may have a point of view that clicks with them, and expands their journey a little further!
